Lunch options on campus are limited on Saturday to the Brochstein Pavillion. More options can be found in the neighboring Rice Village. An example, within a short walk, is Hungry's (see map below), but other options are available close to Hungry's. They are listed at the following link:

Friday evening we propose all to meet at the graduate student bar "Valhalla" (a short walk from Duncan Hall).

Later that evening we can consider several restaurant options. One that may be worthwhile is the cluster of Goode Company restaurants at Kirby/Westpark. Within less than a quarter mile (did I say walking distance?) you will find a Goode Co. BBQ, a Goode Co. Taqueria and the the famous Goode Co. Fish restaurant.

To converge all back to one bar and wash it all away there's Goode's Armadillo Palace (they serve food too) within ... walking distance.

In the meeting rooms and across campus Rice has two wireless networks at your disposal:

• eduroam: well tested, secure, and reliable across many campuses across the world. If your institute supports this then use this SSID with the credentials that your institute is using for you.
• Rice Visitor: this is the guest network. It is unprotected and requires you to explicitly acknowledge the Use Terms in a webpage.

There are no speed differences -that I can tell of- between either wireless network.

Our symposium will take place during the lively 2017 HomeComing event at Rice. You will notice a lot of alumni flocking back to the campus. There may be some opportunities for free parking but likely one will need to show a name badge to be able to do so (see this link). The north lot annex and the north lot likely will remain available for paying entries on Friday and Saturday, respectively. I recommend you use those.

Parking at Rice requires the use of a credit card to check in and (the same card!) check out. You will not receive a receipt. The rates are listed at this link. The bottom line is that both lots run at $1 per 10 minutes with a daily maximum of $12. Note that the clock will "reset" if you decide to leave the parking lot and shortly thereafter return.
